Description: The campground features 20 acres of woodland on top of a mountain. Camping options in 24 sites include 8 cottages, a deluxe tree house, and a Hobbit House, all with wood stoves and mattresses for all-weather camping. There are also 6 primitive three season treehouses with no wood stoves or mattresses. A pavilion is available for small group gatherings. Only the Hobbit House and pavilion have electricity. There is potable drinking water and a central bathhouse with outdoor showers. This is a primitive campground, with no RVs and generators are not permitted. The campground is wooded, with a beautiful view, lots of birds, and peace and quiet.
Recreation: The campground is 3/4 mile from the Appalachian Trail, and 15 minutes from Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia where 3 rafting companies provide tubing, rafting, kayaking and zip-lining. Nearby there are fishing creeks and many wineries. The campground is a mile from Burkittsville, where there is a cider distillery, orchard, and tasting room. Also nearby are Antietam Battlefield and blueberry picking. A community swimming pool is nearby, along with 2 playgrounds.
Amenities: Central in camp is a community bath house with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and outdoor, hot private showers and a dish washing station. Port-o-johns are strategically located. In winter, there is an indoor hot shower. There is potable drinking water, but the sites are primitive. The Hobbit House and Pavilion are the only sites with electricity, but there is a charging station for devices in the office. There is limited WiFi. The campground is pet-friendly. Credit cards are accepted, and there is a 10% military discount.
